Brief information on the geography and politics:

Oceania is a group of islands in the Pacific, which are scattered over an area of 8.5 million km², a large part of them are on the southern hemisphere. The size of the islands varies from the island continent of Australia to medium-sized countries such as Papua New Guinea or New Zealand to very small countries like Vanuatu and Tonga. In cultural terms they can be distinguished in four island groups. The first, Micronesia, lies east of the Philippines and includes the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, the Marshall Islands, Nauru and U.S. territories Guam and the Northern Marianas. Melanesia, the second set, is east of Indonesia and Australia and consists of Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga, Tuvalu, Samoa, France and the belonging to New Caledonia and American Samoa. Polynesia is a third group in the Pacific and includes Kiribati, French Polynesia and the U.S. state of Hawaii.
